Emerald Cities Northeast grew from a 2018 collaboration with ECC National and environmental organization Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI). Under this partnership, the region’s first program – the E-Contractor Academy program – launched in Fall 2019 and supported 20 diverse construction firms with business and technical skills training in the green construction industry. ECC Northeast continues to provide the E-Contractor Academy program as well as other programs related to equitable building electrification & decarbonization and community climate resilience with the support of regional partners including government agencies, labor organizations, businesses, environmental organizations, affordable housing owners and training providers.

Emerald Cities Northeast has an Advisory Committee to support our economic inclusion work with contractors. Individuals and organizations interested in supporting this work are encouraged to reach out to to learn more.
