Esmeralda Bisono is the Northeast Community Engagement and Policy Manager. She was born and raised in Salem, MA with her family who emigrated from the Dominican Republic. She formerly worked for the City of Salem as the Sustainability and Resiliency Manager, where she led city-wide and neighborhood projects focused on climate change adaptation and mitigation, community outreach and engagement, and overall resilience and preservation of the coastal community. She is a strong advocate for local community and partnership building, and is a board member of two Salem nonprofit organizations: Salem Alliance for the Environment and the Latino Leadership Coalition. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sustainability from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She is pursuing her LEED Green Associate certification and plans to pursue further education in environmental law and urban planning. Esmeralda is passionate about preserving the natural environment, greening our urban cities, and uplifting BIPOC and marginalized communities.
