Nora Elmarzouky
Senior Energy Democracy Manager
Climate justice has been incorporated in Nora’s work for years whether it was through formal teaching or throwing local seed bombs around Cairo as a direct action against Monsata. Nora has been working specifically within the climate justice field since 2017. This began with designing and facilitating monthly community dinners to discuss issues in the community and learning about ways to address those issues through community resilience plans and the “green economy”. The goal was not only changing the way we view community meetings, but also to provide inspiration from other communities implementing “green” solutions that are community driven and providing resources to implement themselves. Overall, Nora is excited to work with communities across the country to build an understanding around energy democracy and use it as an organizing tool to shift our extractive economy to one that is regenerative.
