Multi-Craft Core Curriculum Training

Emerald Cities Collaborative partners from Seattle, Portland, Cleveland, Los Angeles and the Bay Area participated in the Building Trades' Multi-Craft Core Curriculum Coordinator’s Training at the Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies in Linthicum Heights, Maryland. Bob Pleasure and ECC Board Member Art Lujan of the Building and Construction Trades Department, National AFL-CIO led the 4-day training. “We have a CBA in Cleveland and this Curriculum will be of great assistance in enabling success,” said Patrick McCafferty, a course participant from Cleveland, Ohio. YouthBuild USA helped organize the training in conjunction with the United States Department of Labor. “By making this Curriculum available to local YouthBuild DoL Grantees, we’re increasing the career opportunities for our students. With the Building Trades Multi-Craft Core Curriculum, we know there’s a direct connection between apprenticeship preparation training offered through our YouthBuild programs, union apprenticeship training and good wages in the construction industry. "We’re proud of our association with the Building Trades and with Emerald Cities on this project," said Daryl Wright, ECC Board Member and Vice President at YouthBuild USA.
