ECC Rallies for Action on Climate Change
The Emerald Cities Collaborative joined hundreds of other advocates at a May 21 Capitol Hill Climate Action Rally pressing for urgent action on climate change. Floresca said the rally was intended "as a wake up call" to Congress to support the President's Climate Action Plan.
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) acted as emcee for the rally sponsored by the Senate Climate Action Task Force, BiCameral Task Force on Climate Change, Congressional Safe Climate Caucus and House of Representatives Sustainable Energy & Environment Coalition.
“We believe it’s necessary to ‘sound the alarm’ about the urgency of climate change until Congress takes meaningful action,” Floresca said. “ECC is proud to be among those taking a public stand on this important issue that affects the health and well-being of communities around the country and around the globe.
ECC is part of a national effort, as well as local efforts in its 10 Emerald Cities around the country, to lower carbon emissions and promote a clean energy economy.
