Administration Initiative Encourages Investment in Solutions to Climate Change
The Obama Administration will hold a Clean Energy Investment Summit this spring to kick off its new Clean Energy Investment Initiative that seeks to catalyze $2 billion in expanded private sector investments in solutions to climate change.
A White House fact sheet announcing the initiative says further clean energy innovation is needed to build on existing technologies such as solar photovoltaics, wind power, advanced batteries, energy-efficient lighting and fuel cells.
It says the initiative will “help clean energy investors reduce transaction costs, spread promising investment models and increase their climate-mitigation impact.”
The initiative is aimed at “mission-driven investors – such as foundations, university endowments and institutional investors – [that] can play a catalytic role in accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy” and that seek to have an impact on climate and the environment.
