Cleveland Mayor Jackson's Community Benefits Symposium

Posted

On August 3, Emerald Cities Cleveland, Partnership for Working Families, and Policy Matters Ohio participated in a labor-community session with Mayor Jackson, former Congressman Louis Stokes, and about 140 diverse attendees from the building trades, the black & latino community, the business community, environmental groups and the public sector. Loree Soggs of the Building Trades confirmed the Trades' national priorities and ability to provide an excellent foundation to partnership with Emerald Cities around retrofitting public buildings and meeting other community goals. Additionally, a lively panel discussion moderated by Councilman Terrell Pruitt featured ECC Board Member and Deputy Director of the Partnership for Working Families Kathleen Mulligan-Hansel, head of public works inspection for Los Angeles John Reamer, ECC Board Member and Special Assistant to the President of the AFL-CIO Building Trades Department Art Lujan, community organizer for Milwaukee Common Cause Jennifer Epps-Addison, and attorney with Partnership for Working Families Ben Beach.
